The 3’8” x 5’9” Fine Isfahan from Iran. You may
notice in this rug that the border and field color are the same. Most rugs have
some sort of contrasting colors and hence give most rugs a framing effect,
which often makes the center the star of the rug. This one, by using the same
color in both areas, makes the pattern almost of equal importance throughout.
This wool piled carpet is woven on a silk foundation. The main field and border
are in a light pale blue color. It has accents of royal blue, navy, dark brown,
beige, dark forest green, maroon, a medium green, and ivory. It is finely woven
and has just over 480 knots per square inch.
